Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform design, analysis and improvement of integrated systems of people,
materials, information, equipment and energy.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned:
1. Methods engineering
2. Motion and time studies
3. Lean Manufacturing Facilitation/Implementation
4. Process analysis & improvement
5. Facility design and capacity planning
6. Product and process costing techniques
7. Material handling
8. Ergonomics
9. Effectively manage engineering projects adhering to financial and delivery
commitments.
10. Provide mentoring and training to other engineers.
11. May supervise technician(s).
12. Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that
supports BSC's Quality Policy, Quality system and the appropriate regulations
for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and
their training is documented.

QUALIFICATION
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative
of the knowledge, skills, and or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 5 - 8 years
experience in medical device, healthcare ore related field as an Industrial
Engineer; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience
in principals of Lean Manufacturing. Able to demonstrate experience managing
complex, cross-functional projects. Experience in medical device industry
preferred. Proficient use of analytical tools to make economic business
decision. Pro-E, AutoCAD, PLC and Visual Basic programming experience preferred.
Proficient use in current versions of MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and
Statistical Analysis software (i.e.: E-Chip- Stat-Graphics) preferred.
Experience in manufacturing and operations preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS (ENGLISH):
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports,
business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers
and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical
inferences and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply
concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical
situations.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or
schedule form. Able to make daily decisions based on experience, knowledge and
logical thinking.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be computer literate. Must be able to manage multiple projects, perform
root cause analysis, and DOE. Self-starter with excellent communication
(oral/written) and people skills. Six sigma green belt preferred.
