Product Description
The GT13E2 is a ALSTOM's highly successful gas turbine in the 50 Hz medium
size market segment. First introduced in 1991, this engine, while
retaining the fundamental aerodynamic and mechanical design features of the
GT13E as well as many of its parts, is characterised by the successful matching
of ALSTOM's EV (EnVironmental) dry low NOx burner with a fully annular
combustor, which replaced the GT13E's single, top-mounted 'silo' combustor. The
resulting improvement in hot gas temperature distribution allowed for an
increased performance which, along with an outstanding availability and an
excellent maintainability, made the GT13E2 a market leader for simple cycle,
combined cycle and co-generation applications.
Constantly updated, today's GT13E2 incorporates a number of further technical
enhancements as the result of a careful continuous product improvement process.
With the latest rating, the engine has now the highest simple cycle efficiency
in it's class - 180 MW gross output with 36.9 % gross efficiency.
Furthermore, there are two selectable operation modes which provide outstanding
operational flexibility. According to actual requirements the gas turbine can be
operated either for maximized power with standard operation intervals between
Hot Gas Path inspections of up to 24'000 Equivalent Operating Hours (EOH) or for
maximised operating intervals of up to 36'000 EOH between Hot Gas Path
inspections. No engine hardware changes are required and the operator can switch
between these two modes during operation as required.
As with all of ALSTOM's gas turbines, the GT13E2 has the solid welded rotor
which is maintenance free and it also has the typically low emission levels
which are a characteristic of the EV burner. Fuel flexibility is also provided
with the engine capable of burning, in addition to natural gas, medium calorific
value gases as well as syngases and cam also be equipped to burn fuel oil.
Various levels of inlet cooling and power augmentation are available and the
engine has a quick start capability which is particularly useful in simple cycle
peaking applications
