Product Description

Alcatel-Lucent 8640 Corporate Mobility Manager
The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 Corporate Mobility Manager (CMM) is a versatile IMS
ready network application that enables enterprises to integrate all their
employees into one converged communication system across locations, networks and
devices. The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM runs on Alcatel-Lucent's 8690 Open Services
Platform (OSP) and spans PSTN, NGN/IMS and mobile networks.

As the cornerstone of Alcatel-Lucent's Managed Business Communication Services (MBCS)
strategy, the Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM is designed for service providers offering
enterprises three types of services over any network (PSTN, mobile, NGN/IMS) to
any device (fixed, SIP, mobile phone and dual mode GSM/WiFi handset): Voice/
Multimedia VPN, virtual PBX and single phone/single number services.

The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM addresses two distinct markets:

In developed countries, all three services, voice / multimedia VPN, Virtual PBX
and single phone/single number, address fixed and fixed mobile converged service
providers. The 8640 CMM also integrates seamlessly with the Alcatel-Lucent
Intelligent Mobile Redirect (IMR) solution for fixed mobile convergence
solution, The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM, together with the OmniPCX family of
products, delivers the full range of Alcatel-Lucent Managed Business
Communication Services (MBCS).

In high-growth economies mainly the voice VPN and virtual PBX service, enabled
by the 8640 CMM are relevant. The voice VPN service controls the voice, short
message service (SMS) and general packet radio service (GPRS) mobile consumption
of employees. The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM separates company calls from private
calls, directing private calls to the prepaid application in the operator's
network. The virtual PBX is used for replacing any legacy PBX or Centrex with
single CMM application including voice VPN.
Benefits

  • The Alcatel-Lucent 8640 CMM architecture fully supports the business
priorities of all types of service providers, whether it is fixed-only,
mobile-only or fixed-mobile converged, ILEC or CLEC.

  • It reduces churn through fixed-mobile bundling.

  • It grows ARPU by allowing for the up-selling of VoIP and mobile services
to the existing PSTN customer base, as part of a broader managed communication
    services strategy.

  • It provides consistent user experience across multiple networks, locations
    and devices.

Features

  • Consistent service delivery over PSTN, NGN/IMS and mobile networks,
without any form of call tromboning.

  • Rich service portfolio of Voice/Multimedia VPN, Virtual PBX, and IMR which
seamlessly inter-works, yet still support a phased service roll-out on a
single application server that also supports residential applications.

  • Consistent GUI and network management with managed/hosted variations of
the solution provided by the OmniPCX product family.

Manager (CMM) is a versatile network application that integrates
all enterprise employees into one converged communication system across
locations, networks and devices. The Alcatel 8640 CMM runs on Alcatel’s 8690
Open Services Platform (OSP) and spans the PSTN as well as session initiation
protocol (SIP) and mobile networks. As the cornerstone of Alcatel’s Managed
Business Communication Services strategy, the Alcatel 8640 CMM is designed for
service providers offering enterprises three types of services:

> Enhanced voice virtual private network (VPN) services

> Virtual private branch exchange (VPBX) services, including the
first set of VPBX functionality for SIP users

> Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) one phone/one number services

For FMC services, Release 4.2.1 integrates seamlessly with the
Alcatel Intelligent Mobile Redirect (IMR) solution (see Figure 1). The Alcatel
8640 CMM, together with the OmniPCX family of products, delivers the full range
of Alcatel Managed Business Communication Services.

The Alcatel 8640 CMM addresses the two main communication
concerns of enterprises. It offers a smooth, gradual, site-bysite migration from
TDM to voice over IP (VoIP), avoiding a disruptive revolution. The Alcatel 8640
CMM also provides a seamless evolution toward mobility. Mobile users can benefit
from the same PBX features as fixed users, such as corporate directory access or
call transfer, whether they are in the office or on the road.
