Crane Cams FireBall Tester can be used with most aftermarket capacitive discharge and conventional inductive ignitions including the Crane HI-6, HI-7 and HI-8 and MSD 6?, MSD 7?, and MSD 8? series. The unit permits tests of the basic ignition system as well as precise adjustment of RPM limits, without starting the engine. It can also be used to test and accurately calibrate tachometers.
The unit can also be used as a precise signal generator in conjunction with test equipment, such as an oscilloscope, to monitor ignition timing functions, including start and high gear retard, multi-spark, and rev limit firing sequences. Four thumbwheel switches permit easy selection of the maximum RPM from 200 to 19,900 RPM in 10 RPM increments. An RPM adjustment knob allows testing from 200 RPM to the preset maximum RPM.
